TheTziaalso known as Kea is the go-to quick getaway in theCycladesto feel the Aegean breeze. A getaway to the closest Cycladic island to Attica (just one hour by ferry from Lavrio) is always a good idea: you will enjoy strolls in a beautiful Chora, Ioulida, you will visit Ancient Karthea, you will walk the islands wonderful trails and, of course, you will swim atbeacheswith dreamy crystalline waters. Some organized and cosmopolitan, others with wild beauty and others remote and with difficult access, the beaches of Kea will make you forget that you are just one hour from Attica.
Otzias
The Otziasin the north is one of the most well-known beaches of Kea and the islands largest. The distance from the port is about 5 km and access is easy. Its lovely sandy shore, the shallow waters and the tamarisks along the coast make it a favorite among visitors. At the ends of the beach are two picturesque churches, Agios Georgios and Agios Sostis, which are worth visiting to enjoy the view.
Koundouros
The Koundouroson the southwest side, is one of the most popular beaches on Tzia. At a distance of 30 minutes by car from Ioulida, you will find an organized beach with golden sand and clear shallow waters, ideal for families with children. Around there are small beaches worth visiting, such as Koundouraki where you can do water sports.
Sykamia
For those who want something quieter and more relaxing, Sykamia is one of the best choices. A dirt road of about 3 km will lead you to this enchanting bay with wonderful, deep waters and coarse sand. The road requires attention, but the route there is worth it. Take the essentials with you because the beach is not organized.
Poisses
InPoissesyou will find a large sandy beach with deep waters and tamarisks that provide natural shade. The beach is organizedwith umbrellas and sunbeds and access to it is easy. It is worth visiting in the afternoon to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island.
Xyla
The beach Xylawith turquoise and relatively deep waters has a mix of sand and pebbles andis considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. You will reach it in 20 minutes by car via a passable dirt road that starts from Korissia. The beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, but there is space to lay your towel.
Spathi
Another beautiful beach on the island with wonderful waters is Spathi. To get thereyou will need to cross a rough dirt road that requires attention, but the beach will reward you. The beach also has an organized section with a beach bar andis popular with the islands young visitors.
Gialiskari
Very close to the port, you will find the organized and sheltered beach Gialiskari,which is an ideal choice for your first swim on the island. The beach has a beach bar, whilethere are several tamarisks that offer natural shade as well as a parking area.
