Two Greek coastal cities among the most beautiful in Europe

The Daily Mail curated a selection of the most dreamlike seaside towns in Europe, from Greece to France and Sweden.

Who doesnt love the sea, especially when its paired with intriguing sights and the vibrancy of a picturesque town? A photo feature on some of the most beautiful seaside towns in Europe was put together by the Daily Mail, adding two Greek destinations to the list. One is in Epirus and the other in the Peloponnese.

Parga and Gytheio among the most beautiful seaside towns in Europe

Topping the Daily Mail list is Parga. The charming seaside town of Epirus rivals any island. Colorful houses climbing the hillside, the imposing Venetian castle, the picturesque bay where the lush islet of Panagia nestles, and the turquoise waters create one of the most striking postcards of Greece. Where Epirus meets the Ionian youll discover a unique setting for peaceful holidays with an island feel.

A little further down the list we find picturesque Gytheio, the gateway to the Laconian Mani, 40 km south of Sparta. The seaside town is built amphitheatrically, with colorful neoclassical buildings mirrored in the sea, narrow alleys and a distinctly island character. With a quaint harbor where youll find many ouzeris and fish tavernas, as well as lovely beaches a short distance away, Gytheio is both a standalone destination and an ideal base for exploring the area. The southern end of the town is connected to a small, verdant islet, Kranai or Marathonisi.On this islet, according to mythology, Paris and Helen of Troy,trying to escape Menelaus, hid and spent their first night after the abduction before departing for Troy.
