The British newspaper the Guardian compiled a list of 20 of the best undiscovered beaches in Europe for endless moments of relaxation. Among them are two Greek beaches.
Hidden in sheltered bays, whether rocky, sandy or pebbled, Greece’s beaches are regarded worldwide as one of the top reasons to visit Greece and savor their scenery and crystal-clear waters. Beyond the famous Greek beaches, there are also the unexplored ones, where you’ll usually find only locals enjoying the tranquility.
The newspaper Guardian compiled a list of 20 of Europe’s lesser-known beaches that are worth discovering. The list includes two Greek beaches - hidden gems for this summer.
Psili Ammos, Patmos
This is the most pristine and secluded beach on Patmos, according to the Guardian, as it never gets crowded, making it an ideal place for seclusion. There are only two ways to get there - either by boat, or by following a half-hour hiking trail. At the end of the path, the sandy beach with serene waters awaits swimmers, while a traditional little taverna completes the idyllic scene.
Tholos, Northern Crete
"If the beaches of Crete make you think of sunbeds and faded umbrellas, this untouched area will surprise you", writes the article about Tholos beach in Northern Crete. To reach Tholos beach, hidden on the quiet northeastern coast near Mochlos, 29 km east of Agios Nikolaos and 19 km northeast of Ierapetra, you pass along a route lined with olive groves from the village of Kavousi. It is a quiet pebbly beach, with trees that provide shade.
