Voras- Kaimaktsalan Ski Center: The experience of Greeces highest ski resort

A majestic ski resort that offers a connection with nature, mountain sports and an authentic winter experience.

The Kaimaktsalan Ski Center, also known as Voras Ski Center, is one of northern Greeces most impressive winter destinations. At an elevation exceeding 2,000 meters, it offers an authentic alpine atmosphere, abundant snow, and unique views. Just two hours from Thessaloniki, it is an ideal choice for ski enthusiasts as well as travelers seeking nature, tranquility, and winter experiences.

Kaimaktsalans snow-capped peaks create a landscape of wild beauty, especially on clear days when the view reaches Lake Vegoritida. It is the highest ski center in Greece and one of the most imposing, ideally blending dramatic natural scenery with winter activities. It is the first ski center to open in Greece and the last to close, weather permitting!

Voras - Kaimaktsalan offers slopes for all levels, from beginners to experienced skiers. One of its greatest advantages is its high altitude. Its base is at 2,050 m. with the main lodge, parking, ski schools, and it reaches 2,480 m. at the end of the Kremasi lift route.

After completing an extensive cycle of preparation and technical checks each year, it welcomes thousands of visitors seeking quality time on the mountain, whether for panoramic runs and enjoyment of the scenery or for the experience of skiing in alpine conditions. In addition, it is accessible to people with disabilities and electric vehicle chargers operate, strengthening its accessibility and sustainable operation profile, while overall the look and feel of the visitor experience is upgraded.

The ski center features one double chairlift, three surface lifts (platter and anchor types), two beginner lifts, a snowmaking installation, and 12 runs of varying difficulty. It is regarded as the ideal ski center for improving technique and for off-piste routes in untouched snow. The views from the mountain are excellent and, when the weather allows, you can see the Thermaic Gulf and the summit of Mount Olympus.

The mountain’s most impressive point is the Prophet Elias summit with the chapel with the steeply pitched roof that is dedicated to the memory of the Serbian fallen of World War I. It’s worth taking a snowcat ride up there to enjoy the awe-inspiring view from Greece’s third-highest summit (2,524 m.).

For those who don’t engage in winter sports, the ski center lends itself to relaxed moments at the refreshed chalet with its wonderful view. At 2,050 meters altitude, Kaimaktsalan’s glass, two-story chalet is the best spot for rest and a pleasant break from skiing. On the ground floor you will find the ideal place for a quick breather, a drink or a snack, amid the buzz of the skiers. For those seeking a warmer, more atmospheric experience, the first floor with a fireplace and panoramic views of the snow-covered mountain is the ideal destination.

The ideal visit is on weekdays

Visiting the Voras - Kaimaktsalan Ski Center on weekdays is clearly the best choice for those who want to enjoy the mountain in peace. The slopes are noticeably quieter, which means more and more comfortable runs, shorter waits at the lifts, and greater familiarity with the mountain in safety, especially for beginner skiers. At the chalet the atmosphere is more relaxed and the overall experience is even further enhanced. The snowy landscape and activities combine to offer moments of exploration and relaxation, in a carefully curated setting of authentic beauty.
